Texas State House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee Internship
In 1998, the Davis College of Agronomical Sciences & Natural Resources established a Government Internship Plan for Davis College students. This has turned out to be 1 of the virtually significant programs ever put into place. Since establishment of the programme, over 100 students take served as interns in congressional and legislative offices in Washington, D.C. and Austin, Texas.
Our students accept worked with Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, US Representatives Mike Conaway, Lamar Smith, Mac Thornberry, Randy Neugebauer, Charles Stenholm, Larry Combest, the Business firm Agronomics Committee, State Senator Robert Duncan, and Country Representatives Carl Isett, Gary Walker and David Swinford. The experience gained during a semester as an intern has been invaluable to the students. Several erstwhile interns are at present employed past the offices in which they worked.
Generous donors take contributed funds making this program possible. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Texas Corn Producers Board originally established the program. Others who have joined in supporting the program include Plains Cotton fiber Growers, Texas Corn Growers, Texas Peanut Producers, Texas Wheat Producers, Mr. Dan Taylor, Texas Farm Bureau, South Texas Cotton and Grain and others. The Davis Higher of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resource is extremely grateful for the vision of these donors and their delivery to supporting this worthwhile program.
